About Jayme

Hey,

My name is Jayme Edwards, and I’m on a mission to help 1,000 people who work in software become self-employed.

Living in Austin Texas, I’ve spent 30 years working in the software industry. First as an employee, then as a consultant—and eventually a coach.

While consulting, I worked with over 25 different companies as a software architect, agile coach, and management consultant. Across many industries, I learned how technology drives business outcomes.

But my personal life? That was another story…

My burnout

In 2017, I hit a breaking point. Years of workaholism, poor decisions, and marijuana addiction (used to cope with work stress) caught up with me. I burned out and lost every dollar I’d ever saved. But I also lost sight of who I was. And when I hit rock bottom, there was nowhere to go but up.

For years I believed the lie that if I couldn’t make money I was useless. But my wife and kids stood by me. I got sober, sought help, and most importantly—found forgiveness and a new start through faith in Jesus Christ.

My recovery

Climbing out of the corporate fog, I wasn’t sure what to do next. So I started a YouTube channel called Healthy Developer. There I shared stories of the harsh realities of the tech employment grind. Along with a bit of wisdom I’d picked up upon along the way.

Turns out, I wasn’t alone. The channel grew to 185,000 subscribers.

Eventually I began career coaching part-time. And over the next 5 years, I met with over 300 people from all over the world—140 of whom became paying clients.

Growing pains

By 2020, I started seeing a pattern. Many people were still trying to play the game of employment the same way I had (before I became a consultant). And they were losing.

So I began helping a few of them explore self-employment. Not as freelancers or contractors. As consultants with a premium offer they could stand behind. Something repeatable. Something they could become known for.

Meanwhile, the internet kept flooding with fake gurus pushing get-rich-quick hacks—drop-shipping, AI agents, and “an easy SaaS idea”. I knew those were fleeting, unrealistic paths for experienced software professionals.

I wanted to offer them something real.

A new mission

In early 2025, I got some coaching myself—and had an epiphany:

What if I went “all in” on helping groups of developers transition into premium consulting, together?

So I built something new: a live, cohort based workshop that helps software professionals craft a premium consulting offer. To pull it off, I use teaching, group coaching, and even a personalized LLM assistant we build together.

I ran two cohorts to refine the experience. The feedback was clear:

This totally changed the game. I had no idea this was even a way you could make money in tech.

That’s when I knew it was time to pivot.

In late 2025, I launched this website and a new YouTube channel—Developer Reborn.

Because I believe your skills are worth more than a paycheck.

And you deserve a career that reflects the person you’re becoming.
